The estimation of catches of key shark species in the WCPFC Statistical Area has been ongoing since 2010. Delta-lognormal models have been used to predict shark catch rates from observer data, with the independent variables parameterised as splines. The results will be presented at the Seventh Regular Session of the WCPFC Scientific Committee in August 2011.
