Information: Sam joined the Oceanic Fisheries Programme as a fisheries stock assessment scientist in May 2013 where his work focused initially on analyses recommended by the bigeye tuna assessment review and leading and supporting stock assessments of tropical tunas in the WCPO. He is now a national scientist within the National and Sub-regional Team advising SPC member countries on scientific issues relating to pelagic fisheries in the region. Prior to working at SPC he completed a PhD at the University of Auckland on the modelling of coho salmon population dynamics and before that he worked for four years at the University of Otago on the assessment of seabird harvesting in Southern New Zealand.
