Observer courses
Wednesday, 13 October 2010 10:59

A pre-selection assessment test is required for all aspiring candidates. On receipt of an official request a three to four week course comprising; basic navigation, an introduction to the world of observing, an intensive observer training module (based on the regional standard observer data forms) is offered. Continual assessment is carried out, and successful candidates are offered a regionally recognised PIROP certificate. A two week fire-fighting and sea-safety training generally offered locally must also be completed. The basic observer workshops are currently led by SPC and FFA staff.
